Parents Tips for My Reward ChartThe chart is an A4 magnetised sheet - it will stick to your fridge, a magnet board, etc. There are 10 squares ready for your child to earn a ‘magnet’ and place on the chart. 48 magnets for each stage are included - made up of 12 types x 4 of each (2 stages are available). For the Mini Reward Chart there is 24 magnets for each stage included - made up of 12 types x 2 of each. The reward for reaching 10 magnets (or 4 magnets in the case of the Mini Reward Chart) is up to you. It could be a special activity, a lolly, a small toy, items in a lucky dip bag, even money. Choose 3 or 4 types of magnets (eg good eating, happy face & toilet). For the Mini Reward Chart you can choose 2 or 3 types of magnets. Include 2 magnets that your child is already good at for the first time (as you will want to move through the chart quickly so that the child understands the whole process. Explain the magnets of choice, and the required behaviour. Make sure your expectations are clear and age appropriate. Each magnet should only have 1 purpose at a time (eg good eating should only be used for trying everything on their plate and then once there is improvement you can change the focus to using utensils. Remember, whatever system you use, it is only as good as your consistency. Be encouraged to move through the chart at least twice a week, to keep your child interested and their behaviour improving once the chart is establsihed, introduce changes (new magnet or new focus) one at a time. IMPORTANT NOTE: use the chart for initiating new behaviours, utlimately we want our children to obey because we have asked them, not for a reward! A full list of magnets with suggested uses, is included in the Parents Tips for Use sheet included with each My Reward Chart... |
